Lars Eric Utterman joined the Board of Directors in 2004, and became chairman in 2006. In March, 2009, he took over as CEO. Mr Utterman has had a long and distinguished career in the biotechnology, diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries.

He has held a number of executive positions at international level for more than 30 years with GE Healthcare, Amersham, Pharmacia and Boehringer Mannheim (now Roche Diagnostics). As an executive consultant he served as CEO of Gyros AB in Uppsala, Sweden during 2008. He is now chairman of Gyros, as well as being chairman of Cellectricon AB in Gothenburg, Sweden and of Ludesi AB in Malmö, Sweden.

Mr Utterman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Stockholm University and his Master of Science degree in chemical technology from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

Wolfgang Lerch is managing director and joined IonGate in 2007. He has held several senior-level executive positions in biotechnology companies involved in screening and analysis, both in Europe and in the USA.

During the last 26 years Wolfgang has held senior–level executive positions within Nimbus Technology GmbH, at Analytik Jena AG where he established and was CEO of their US operations. Previously, he also held positions in sales and marketing management at CyBio and ICN Biomedicals GmbH.

Mr. Lerch worked for over 10 years at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, as a Senior Laboratory Manager.
