Target Characterization
Functional characterization of membrane proteins using SURFE²R technology
Functional characterization of targets and their respective biological test material is essential in ensuring a valid research and drug discovery process. SURFE²R™ technology is a powerful tool for the analysis of electrogenic transport proteins in membrane samples and for proof of functionality.
SURFE²R Technology will be applied to study substrate or co-substrate dependency, and to determine the corresponding K0.5 values. Upon availability, tool compounds will be used to characterize or confirm basic pharmacological properties of the target. Unraveling function of putative transporters by substrate testing and identification (de-orphaning) completes the spectrum of services.
IonGate carries out projects according to specific customer demands and considers regular consultations to be an essential part of a successful cooperation. All of the molecular biology and cell-culturing techniques necessary for the aforementioned studies are carried out by a team of highly-skilled scientists and technicians. IonGate's scope of service includes cloning of corresponding transporters or channels and heterologous expression in mammalian cells (transient and stable transfection).
