The SURFE²R Workstation 500: An assay performance evaluation

SURFE²R™ Technology is an established tool for the investigation of transport protein activity. It has recently been transferred from a single sensor-based system to a 96 sensor platform called SURFE²R Workstation 500. This application note focuses on the assessment of the assay performance of the SURFE²R Workstation 500 by means of the Z’-factor determined for a human sodium/calcium exchanger (NCX1) assay.

The use of the SURFE²R Technology for rapid characterisation of the affinity and mechanism of new proton pump inhibitors.

The use of the SURFE²R Technology for rapid characterisation of the affinity and mechanism of new proton pump inhibitors.

Although proton pump inhibitors are a well-known class of drugs, there is still a to date unmet need for new compounds that inhibit HK-ATPase. The desired mechanism of action of these compounds is determined by its reversibility, thereby enabling a short-term inhibition for the treatment of symptoms found in GERD. Using conventional technologies, the evaluation of the mechanism is cumbersome and in some cases not able to detect all reversible compounds...

Discover the Mitochondrion

Mitochondria are exceptional little “creatures”: believed to be originally derived endosymbionts they became the powerhouses of our cells. They are a bit alien and for that reason it has not been possible to draw all their secrets so far. Mitochondria are important in a wide range of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, obesity or age-related neurodegenerative diseases. IonGate now has developed a method to analyse transport proteins in native mitochondrial membranes. To meet especially the needs of academic research seeking to understand and decipher the impact of mitochondria in various diseases, the new SURFE²R Workstation 5 will be launched early in 2009.
